Show-N-Tell
Sep. 30, 2020
In first grade (give or take) we all may have brought in a treasured item and presented it to our fellow students. Now, here is you opportunity to review those presentation skills and show a treasured item to the group. It could be an award, an art object, a gift--just something you treasure (doesn't even have to have monetary value). It is a chance to show off something in your home that we might not otherwise see. It is a way to get to know oneanother better. Warning, be fast, you have about 90 seconds to get your story told. Be thinking of what you want to show now. |

Covid-19 vs Miamisburg Businesses (plus a brief Cog Log assembly overview)
Nov. 11, 2020
Way back on March 11th, we heard the Govenor was going to issue rules to help us flatten the curve for two weeks against some new virus. Well, the two weeks is still going and businesses had to make all sorts of changes to their normal operations. We will hear from three local business persons telling what they experienced and how their businesses reacted and continue to change. Molly Williams, M & Co. History of Dayton Hockey
Jan. 06, 2021
Mr. Gabringer is a local author who has written on the History of Hockey in Dayton. He'll share stories and I took this from his book entry on Amazon: Hockey in Dayton tells the story of teams, players, and events that were important parts of this sport through a collection of photographs. In the 1950s, crowds that equaled half the city of Troy's population filled the newly constructed 3,900-seat Hobart Arena to watch the area's first hockey team, the Troy Bruins, take the ice. In the 1960s and 1970s, fans packed one of hockey's great "barns," Hara Arena, to watch the Dayton Gems become one of the more well-known and successful franchises in all of professional hockey. In the 1990s and 2000s, it was the Dayton Bombers that reignited the area's love for hockey. Hockey in Dayton tells the story of the teams, players, people, and events that have permanently frozen hockey's place in the history of Dayton area sports.
